Although California has been my home for nearly 20 years, I am originally from Southeast Alaska, and conservation has always been important to me.

In 2020 I obtained my Master of Science in Anthrozoology with an emphasis on wildlife conservation from Canisius College. My thesis, “The 22nd Puma: How a Mountain Lion in Los Angeles Changed Attitudes toward Wildlife,” examined how P-22, a radio-collared mountain lion who lives in Griffith Park, has positively influenced attitudes toward urban wildlife and inspired environmental initiatives.

I live in Oakland and enjoy exploring the East Bay Regional Parks in search of salamanders, newts, native snails, and anything I can find under damp logs.
