I am a naturalist living on Galiano Island, with a MSc in ecology from the University of Victoria, where I studied the effects of seasonal drought on plant and pollinator communities in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia.

Natural history is a great passion of mine, which I love to share with those around me. In this spirit, I serve as the curator of the Biodiversity Galiano project: a community-based initiative to document the flora and fauna of Galiano Island. (www.biogaliano.org). For this work I was recently acknowledged with an Islands Trust Community Stewardship Award.

The better part of my taxonomic knowledge covers lichens, mosses and vascular plants, but at heart I am a generalist and celebrate all "walks of life." My interests in natural history vary widely, from phenology to evolutionary biology, and were inspired by an unlikely encounter with a lichenologist.
