I earned my Ph.D. in organismic and evolutionary biology at Harvard University in Dr. Brian Farrell's lab. My dissertation explored the ecology, phylogeny, and delimitation of Cerambycid beetles in the tribe Lamiini with a focus on pine sawyers (genus Monochamus). Continuing research deals with revising this genus worldwide, biogeography of populations in montane western North America and determining how hostplants and beetles interact. I also build tools to identify cerambycids using DNA and morphology. I am broadly interested in the relationship between plants and insects, how invasive species are successful, and beetle systematics.
