This tui is a regular visitor to my garden at Little River especially during autumn and winter when I have my nectar feeder out. On occasion it has turned up with another tui which is banded but the banded tui is very shy (unusually for tui) and I have yet to make a successful observation of the bands. Note that the upper bill is missing its tip. This is a recent event and the result of window strike. I have several photos of this same bird with a whole bill before this incident
