The animal was about 40mm long, 5mm wide and a dusty blue colour with a white head.

Peripatopsis balfouri is thought to be closely related to the cave peripatus, P. alba.

The peripatus was found in the boulder choke in the upper levels of a cave on the back or Western Table. It was about 6m below the surface and in total darkness.
Peripatopsis balfouri has been recorded from Bats Cave and under logs in the valley in front of Wynberg Cave.

Descrição

Small snail with glossy dark brown shell less than 10mm in diameter. Shell carried in horizontal orientation. Found at cave entrances on Table and Kalk Bay Mountain. Cool, damp habitat at cave or within the first few meters of the cave. Also amongst leaf litter and rotting logs in remnant afro-montain forest patches near caves

beautiful, densely branched, rounded tree to about 4m tall and 6m diameter. Thick trunk and branches with brown corky bark, leaves oblong and toothed at apex. Flowers are clustered into headlets each with a reddish-yellow hairy leaflet which gives the plant its colour when in flower. Flower headlets grouped at the ends of branches.
