Calling Cicadas
Trying to find the cicada in the tree to make a decent observation has always been non-productive. I know it's there but we play hide and seek around the branch. I finally realized that I should record the cicada - count how many seconds before it starts singing again - and then playback my recording just a second or two before the cicada starts to sing another stanza. It will immediately crawl to the tip of the branch it's on to challenge the newcomer in plain sight! Photo challenge solved!
