My First iNaturalist Journal Entry
The eastern gray squirrel is closely related to the dormice and the mountain beaver. It’s phylogeny placement is described as follows : kingdom : animal; phylum : chordata; class: mammalia; order : rodentia; Family : Sciuridae
There aren’t any adaptations that all of my observed species share, because of the wide range of organisms observed. Groups of animals generally share similar adaptions, however my observed species are of different animal classes and therefore have unique adaptations.
A unique adaptation of the common eastern bumble bee is its long tongue that allows it to reach the nectar in tubular flowers. As a result of this adaptation it’s able to harvest and pollinate a wider variety of plants.
