Killen's Pond State Park, May 28, 2018

I've gotta be honest, we were definitely fearing the possibility of having to jump ship for the first few minutes of trying out the inflatable kayak, but it was great! And Killen's Pond was beautiful, albeit chilly and overcast.

I got several new species for my list, including the elusive jack-in-the-pulpit, and the platterful mushroom, which was so huge (several inches across) I saw it from the water and we briefly grounded so I could get a picture! There was also a convenient log by one of the islands to use as a dock, so we explored it and saw some frogs and things. I felt like a jungle explorer. 😂

Overall a success, and one more state park off our list! I also hit the 300 species mark, so I'm well on my way to the 1000 species for the summer goal!
