Journal 2 - The Elm Oyster

The Elm Oyster (Hypsizygus mushroom) is often found high up on dead branches of trees, specifically on Maple or Elm trees. They are also sometimes seen on fallen branches, trunks and stumps. They vary from 5 to 15 cm and are often white or a beige colour. It is edible and is a good source of vitamins (in the B-complex) and are a surprisingly a very good source of protein.

Journal 1

The dandelion is part of the Eukaryotes (which include almost all living organisms) and more simply known as plants, land plants, vascular plants, seed plants and flowering plants. They are located in the Asterids clade and in the Asterales order. They are part of the daisy family, are a close relative of the Asteroideae and finally located in the Cichorioideae.
In my group project, there are no common adaptations in our observed species. We have taken pictures of a variety of leaves such as weeds, leaves on trees and vines.
I have taken pictures of 2-3 weeds, such as dandelions and they are known to be very adaptable in their environment. For instance, some grow stems that are short enough in order to avoid getting cut by lawnmowers.
