From a distance it looks like spray paint, but up close it's a sculpture garden. Definitely one of my favorite lichens, even if it is common. On the trees in my neighborhood, it lives side by side comfortably with a dark green moss I haven't identified yet. The moss is in the upper right of the picture. Any guesses? What is the relationship here, that they grow side by side so often? Or do they both just thrive in the same environment?
