This species has recently been elevated from subspecies status to full species. In their 2016 paper (Genome Biol. Evol. 8:915–931), Grishin and Warren describe several morphological features of P. sennae ssp. marcellina that are a good fit to the female pictured here. The range of P. marcellina includes South Texas with P. sennae ssp. eubule likely occurring sympatrically in Bexar County.
