Genus Centaurium - Needs ID
22 May 2017
Unicorn Lake
Denton, Denton County, Texas
Need assistance making the species ID on this wildflower in the genus Centaurium. It’s bound to be one of the following five per the online reference obtained at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (or maybe not at all). Here’s the link and the possibilities listed there: http://www.wildflower.org/plants/search.php?search_field=centaurium&family=Acanthaceae&newsearch=true&demo=
Note: Based on the correct ID lent by Chuck Sexton it is possible to state that this is the first iNat record of Arizona Centaury (Zeltnera calycosa) in Denton County, Texas: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=1862&taxon_id=357977
this plant was on the side of a drainage ditch until the recent rain filled the ditch and put it under water. Have no idea really what plant this is but thought it might be part of this genus
