So many I hadn't noticed a couple weeks ago.
Many aging Bowties and friends, on Leather Oak.
I couldn't believe all the Disc Galls on Leather Oaks because honest I searched a couple weeks ago and didn't see anything except last year's Bowties. !
Ok, so I was looking REALLY HARD here a couple weeks ago and didn't see any semi-fresh looking galls. Just saying. (= NB 😆) I saw so many today without looking hard so I was surprised.
Have I seen these before on Leather Oaks? I don't recall, but I saw two today. Since Leather Oaks are in the White Oak Group, it's not a surprise but it was a surprise.
on Queicus garryana, These are seemingly blisters under the bark on twigs.
syn.Andricus pedicellatus on Quercus garryana

on Quercus garryana. Andricus, just to get your attention. Seems there are a few bisexual galls which looks like this.
Old ones still hanging on, Leather Oak.
