Larger than the house finch and pine siskin
Collected grasses, then rested on a rock with a mouthful
fledgling first seen alone and calling. Adult responded.
Seen at Wrinkly Face PP. It's supposed to be a South American species.
Maybe it's a caterpillar larva of Red barred tortrix moth
A local blog suggests that these are ssp oregonensis (square spotted blue)
Black beak, yellowish head, white body. Swimming in Rose Valley Lake.
