Mojave Rattlesnake
Crotalus scutulatus
This snake was captured in Graham Co., Arizona
Photo taken Pima Co., Arizona
11 March 2009
CAPTIVE ANIMAL
This snake is unusual in that it lacks black and
white bands at the base of tail.

I was out with several friends, one of them a retired USFW enforcement officer. He had this Mojave Rattlesnake which had been captured the previous fall in Graham Co., AZ, but I do not know the exact location. Anyway, we took some images of this captive snake and I thought I'd post them here just as reference material.

Fox Squirrel in one of its better known poses during summer. This particular individual was observed alongside the perimeter trail that surrounds Enchanted Rock. It looked well fed and seemed to have accommodated to some extent to the many Humans who pass through its chosen home.

A tiny but nasty looking jumping spider with oversized front legs and very large fangs for its size. Looks like it is outfitted to capture prey much larger in size than itself.

Descrição

Notice the parabolic shape dish between the insects eye and the mushroom shaped structure. It is best observed in the second picture under the eye on the viewer's right hand side. Also notice the hair protruding from the mushroom shaped organ. The whole area under and around each eye is also enclosed in a orange parabolic shaped organelle. Given the structure I'd guess that all this is for sound reception... any ideas? A truly beautiful insect. These pictures are reduced in size but are raw of the camera no post processing at all. I took the picture on the extreme wester border of Guyana South America. Close to an Indian village called Paruima
